This Monday DCC finally visited Kaunas hospital!
Throughout 2016 and 17 we saw successful collection of funds, not least from last year’s DCC Christmas Dinner lottery and auctions as well as the musical shows in Kaunas and Vilnius COMEDY VS OPERA on the initiative arranged by Luxuskirurgi and DCC.
With this donation we are continuing our focus on charity activity programmes supporting the quality of life for cancer children undergoing treatment. Critically sick children are in general sensitive to side effects from heavy drugs treatments requiring accurate and constant monitoring of important heart parameters. Holter monitor is a battery-operated portable device that measures and records your heart's activity (ECG) continuously for 24 to 48 hours or longer depending on the type of monitoring used. The device is the size of a small camera. It has wires with silver dollar-sized electrodes that attach to your skin. The new equipment will improve cancer unit’s ability to monitor more children patients more efficiently. We were happy to help and improve daly life of Kaunas clinics - doctors are fighting for kids lives every day, however they do not always have the proper equipment. Before they only had and old system and just one heart recorder - now they have a new system with three new recorders. This will help them to give a better everyday treatment to the little ones.
There is around 60 kids getting cancer every year. It is more than though to see the bunch of kids in a place where they should not belong to. All we together can help make their life easier and better
