DCC orchestra (Jesper Vest, Giedrius Leškevičius,Rasa Balaikiene, Vaiva Kriščiokaitytė, Marija Aizenaitė,Vainius Dovydaitis, Žydrūnas Mockūnas, Erik Bech Nielsen, Erika Rodžiūtė)
DCC and KiCaFo have through the years donated special beds and monitoring equipment for the children intensive care units at the hospitals in Vilnius and Kaunas.Currently and in alignment with hospitals DCC/KiCaFo are having the following new quality of life improving projects on our list:
Introduction to children about their situation
A special animated DVD from Holland called Paul and the dragon, it’s without lyrics, only music, and it explains even down to two years old kids what’s wrong with me, or what’s wrong with my sister or brother. The movie has been a great success in many countries and DCC Charity and The Kids Cancer Foundation would like to bring the DVD to Lithuania to the hospitals for the kids struggling with cancer and with this, also support their families.
Eat the right food
A special cook book explaining what diet kids require, going through chemotherapy.Written by dietitian in Denmark.About how to give (cheat) energy into the food, as the children have very low appetite while going through chemo treatment.
Specially developed armchair
A special armchair for the transplantation rooms, where the kids spend a lot of time - sometimes for weeks at a time.Today there is only an uncomfortable chair, so they stay in bed all day which is very bad.So, an interesting and comfortable armchair could incur the kids to jump out of bed more often.
Comfortable pyjamas instead of hospital clothes that is always too big and too small for the transplantation rooms.
Ideas have been agreed with the nurses and doctors at the hospitals.
